There’s been some conflicting information regarding vegetables and gout. As you may know by now, foods high in purines can contribute to gout flare ups, however studies have shown that high-purine vegetables do not cause gout flare ups.
With that said, I personally eat all types of vegetables regardless of their purine content. I do not believe I’ve ever had a gout flare up as a result of eating too much vegetables. In any case, I made a reference table for you just in case you wanted to limit high-purine vegetables.
Low - Moderate Purines | High Purines |
---|---|
Artichoke | Asparagus |
Avocado | Beans |
Bamboo shoots | Bean Sprouts |
Broccoli | Beet (high oxalates) |
Cabbage | Brussel sprouts |
Carrot | Certain mushrooms |
Celery | Cauliflower |
Chives | Lentil |
Cucumber | Peas |
Garlic | Spinach |
Ginger | |
Green onion | |
Lettuce | |
Onion | |
Pumpkin | |
Radish | |
