Most seafoods have high levels of purine including shellfish and various species of fish. However there is some debate among experts regarding which should be avoided.
Here is a list I compiled for seafood. My advice is to either avoid it altogether or keep the consumption to a minimum.
Seafood is my favorite type of food, especially squid, lobster and crab, so avoiding it is hard for me. But I also know from experience that it is one of the strongest triggers of gout attacks and flare ups. For this reason, I’m extra cautious about eating seafood and try to limit my intake. Also combining alcohol with seafood can increase the risk even more, so be careful.
